A Bit of Art On the Walls

Here's a few of my favorite recent album covers. Starting from the top, we have:

Stars of the Lid - And Their Refinement of the Decline (Kranky)
Pantha Du Prince - This Bliss (Dial)
Senking - List (Raster-Noton)
Moskitoo - Drape (12k)
Patrick Wolf - The Magic Position (Loog)

I like how the Patrick Wolf album completely differs from the 4 others in how busy and totally insane it is. Plus he's humping a merry-go-round animal. That's always a keeper.

sara,

The thing I like about that Patrick Wolf cover is how well it announces his intentions for the album. I wouldn't say the music it totally insane, but it's much happier and "up" than his previous two albums. I wish he had gone even farther over the top with the cover image; I can imagine how David LaChapelle might have done the same photo.

Love the Patrick Wolf record too.
I must admit that I only just got to his party, so I've added his older stuff to my wantlist for future shopping trips.

Any chance of enabling your RSS feed? I'd like to be able to follow your posts, but know I won't do so unless I access via a newsreader.

colin,

I have Feeds enabled and there's a link way at the bottom of the main page. Although, I admit I'm not quite sure how feeds work on Blogger. Let me know if that link works for you.

Oops - sorry I didn't see that link before. I always expect to find a feed link at the top of a site. That works fine. Thanks! My preference is for the Moskitoo, characteristically lovely stuff from 12k.

Wolf's taken quite a step (in cover art, of course) from album to album, huh?

I do, however, like the Lycanthropy - might have been better spelled L-A-....but that's just getting too much ahead of myself. Fun blog, fellow Austinite.

Love Stars and Wolf -- covers and albums. Other cover favorites, though not all as recent: Cadence Weapon's "Afterparty Babies," Unkle's "War Stories," Modeselektor's "Happy Birthday," Ratatat's "Classics," and Tosca's "Dehli9."
